Lying in the crook of Jack's arm, her thigh over his, Rose didn't want to open her eyes. Last night had been so magical, so perfect. She wanted nothing more than a thousand more nights just like it. But light streamed in Jack's white-paned window. A mockingbird ran through its playlist of songs, each sounding more desperate than the next, mirroring the worries in Rose's heart.

She didn't want to open her eyes to a man who, in the harsh light of morning, might look at her and realize that last night had been nothing but smoke and mirrors.

Nothing more than a sexual fantasy that they had played out with each other.

Holding her breath, she slid out from under Jack's tanned, muscular arm. He stirred in his sleep and pulled her tightly against the hard planes of his body.

Rose went perfectly still. Jack's chest rose and fell in an even pattern, and his face was relaxed, with none of the animation it had when he was demonstrating how to saute onions in white wine but all of the beauty. Okay, she needed to try to sneak out of bed again. Only this time, she needed to move quicker. On three, she'd slip out and be dressed and gone before Jack noticed.

One. Two. Thr-

A large hand cupped her bottom. "Bread:

Rose gasped in surprise at Jack's quick movements, as well as the fact that he had woken up from a deep sleep to talk about dreaded carbs.

His eyelids opened, and his vivid green eyes smiled down at Rose's gaping mouth. "Let's make bread' he said, and it was all she could do to nod.

Especially when he added, "I've just got one thing to take care of first' then proceeded to disappear beneath the covers and show her that he was, indeed, a master when it came to tasting things slowly, deliberately, and thoroughly.

FEELING MORE THAN A LITTLE NAUGHTY, Rose put on one of the aprons hanging on a hook beside Jack's fridge. She didn't have any clean clothes with her, so she was wearing one of Jack's T-shirts. It covered her from her neck to her knees, but with the worn cotton sliding against her naked breasts and thighs, she felt sexier than if she'd been wearing the most seductive lingerie.

She couldn't remember the last time she hadn't strapped herself into one of her chest compressors the minute she'd gotten out of bed. Jack, who was shooting her chest lusty glances from inside the pantry, where they were gathering ingredients, liked her free-swinging boobs quite a bit.

Underwear was overrated. Rather than waste all that time searching for the perfect undergarment in Victoria's Secret, she could be spending her time having sex. Naughty, perfect sex. Her nipples hardened beneath Jack's T-shirt and apron, and when she looked up from her musings, the look on his face snatched her breath. His gaze locked on her tight, aching, cotton-covered nipples.

Giggling, Rose marveled at how perfect and sexy Jack made her feel. Like she was at least as capable of turning a guy on as a size two was.
